Course Description:

Introduces the participant to Lock Out/Tag Out.  Course explains the basics of LOTO and its use as a prevention strategy for many hazards.   Content focuses on LOTO as a “Best Practice” and describes the basic steps to follow for LOTO; minimal equipment; when and how LOTO should be used; and the regulatory (OSHA) guidelines for LOTO program.  For use when audience is unfamiliar with LOTO.   This mini-module is available for use in most curriculum modules and can be “hidden” during a presentation if the audience is familiar with LOTO.

General Goals:

  1. Participants will be able to describe what Lock Out Tag Out means.
  2. Participants will be able to identify basic equipment needed for LOTO.
  3. Participants will be able to describe when and how LOTO should be used and the basic elements of a LOTO program.
  4. Participants will be able to implement basic LOTO programs at their workplace.
