NEW!  GHSC and the University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health have partnered to offer a free on-line grain handling safety course.

This interactive 3 part certificate course introduces the user to the major hazards associated with grain handling including hazard identification and use of preventive safety strategies such as Lock Out/Tag Out and safe bin entry procedures;  discusses the application of associated OSHA standards to commercial and farm grain handling; and explains the use of risk management principles to address hazards. Part 3 of the course explains Lock Out/Tag Out more fully, its use in hazard prevention, and steps to successful LOTO. A certificate of completion is issued upon completion. Participants are required to register before accessing the course.  To aid in implementing LOTO at the work place, policy and procedure templates, tool box talks, and handouts are available under the “Resource” tab of this website.
